Alright, I sent my 5008_S to get a quote for some work on it. Its quite a clunker, Canon 814 trade in. So, the guy has called me back and said he could give me some $ for it as parts- but that its not really worth fixing. He sells reconditioned Beaulieu's, so I may buy a different one from him.

I'm not married to the 5008_S. Its my understanding that most of these cameras have basically the same optical path, which would result in comparable images. So, my next question is, which of the Beaulieu's is the quietest in opperation?

    Thanks,

    -M

I would think that the 9008Pro would be since it is the newest model. Who did you send your camera to??? I hope it was Irv Higdon in California. He is the best by far. Call him 1-800-318-3259

Yup, Irv Higdon. His prices deffinately seem the most reasonable I've seen yet. I think he said he's been doing working on them for 45 years!

It think you will hard pressed to find anyone who has handled all the Beaulieu cameras. Certainly the 2008, 4008 are the "loudest". Though I may tell that I had one recently serviced and it is suprisingly much quieter than before. I know when serviced properly the 5008 is pretty quiet. Of course if you are dealing with Irv Higdon then he will talk you out of a 5008. I honostly would take very little out of what he says as he is a salesman first and foremost. I got a projector from him and was very disapointed with his support as he was not man enough to cover the warranty.

When you say "not man enough to cover the warranty", do you mean that he refused to fix whatever problem was occurring or that he wasn't ABLE to fix it?

    How is his service?

    Thanks.

I got the projector and it had a problem right out of the box. He said send it back and he will fix it. Got a call later and he charged me to fix it. What an asshole, huh!
